The Office - Part 1

Using a pedal box requires changes to all the braking lines especially when the ABS system is being removed from the car.

Initially I was going to re-do all the hard lines, from front, the rears, the whole hog. However, as I was stripping the ABS, I just had a thought, why not leverage on the existing hard brake lines and all I had to do was join up the master cylinders to the existing hard line. I could quite easily get all the parts from Ebay(!!) or Earls.

Then I kicked myself real hard. I needed front non ABS lines and only about 5 days back, I sold the existing lines I had for $40.

SOLD!!!

So I weighed the option of having the front as braided lines. Speaking to Earls, they advised that it may mean a longer pedal compression, some people liked it and some don't. So I decided to try and get the hard lines from the wreckers.

But before that, Goodies from Earls.

Anyway, headed down to a known Honda wrecker in Smithfield. Showed the guy what I needed. Now taking off the hardlines is easiest done with the engine out however, none of his civics/integras had the engine out. Which means a great deal of work.

He wanted $100 for the lines. No way Jose!  The next wrecker I went too didn't even know what I was talking about and kept showing brake calipers.

Finally, hit up Pick and Payless here in Sydney. For those who don't know, Pick and Payless is a wrecking yard where you bring your own tools and dismantle what you want. You can get a bargain for bits and bobs.

A whole yard full of treasure

From the lot, I picked my target.

With a trusty size 10 spanner, I got what I needed.

and all for just $18. Phew. Saved a bit there.

So just a couple more little things and I should be able to commence work on the brake lines.
