No hydraulic handbrake.

Abit disappointed. Just took some measurements and realised I don't have any where to fit the hydraulic handbrake that I had bought. Dang...

Also, getting a little worried about the pedal box as well. The sitting position might be a little awkward.

Progress is slow

Progress is slow, but slow and steady wins the race yes? Target is to get the car up and running by June.

Good news is, all the gearbox components are now here.

The car will run a full set of MFactory gears which have proven themselves over the race I've been driving.

  • A 1.5 way Metal LSD (or maybe I should set this to 1 way?)
  • A Close Ratio Gear Set
  • Final Drives
  • High Load High Speed Bearings
  • Carbon Lined Synchros
  • + All new hub, sleeves and seals.

In the meantime, did nothing much tonight but took measurements to fit the seat and pedal box.

Here's the nice bright blue seat.

Measuring up the pedal box position.

What it should look like.

Well, have to get to work early tomorrow, so good night.

Pigeon Poo

Got the welding wire and welded up the seat rail.

So then, I thought I might weld some braces onto the chassis. Boy did I fuck it up.
Pigeon poo all the way. I'm not even going to show the bloody pictures of that shit.

At least its strong I hope. I can probably clean it up with a grinder. More time needed that I don't have.

And then I ran out of gas. It's a freaking new bottle dammit. I didn't even did much welding with the new bottle. Somehow the bottle must have leaked.

So here I am, needing more gas bottle.

2am

I really really have to freaking sleep before 12.

This is not good.

On Rails (2)

And this is part 2.

Measured up the mounting points, dusted off the welder, loaded up the gas bottle, did some test welds and started welding.

and then I ran out of welding wire. Phhhttttttttt.....

I guess then its off to Bunnings tomorrow to get some welding wire.

Oh, I need to start thinking of a design for the car.

On Rails (1)

I typed this out yesterday but simply got lazy to post it, well, here it is anyway.

Yesterday's post

On Rails

Ok, so yesterday I butchered a perfectly good (and expensive) Bride Seat rail.

Why? So I can mount my nice blue race seat. Well, you can just see it here in this file photo.

But its already mounted I hear you ask.

My problem lies with my height. Everytime I get into the seat on the unmodified rails with my helmet on, I tend to bang on the sides/roof/cage, which can be pretty irritating, not to mention scratches my nice new helmet.
.
So what I’m doing now is removing the sliders (You know, the thing that allows you to adjust your seat back and forth), hopefully lowering the seat by about 2/3 cm.

It’s not much I know but every little bit helps
