Less than 81 days to go

Didn't manage to get the transmission parts to Adrian, will try to do so next week.

Made quite good progress today. Remember the pretty messy engine bay? I attacked it with spray cans.

I was quite happy with the outcome. There was some overspray but meh...I'll just spray black the overspray.

Also starting to put the cage back in.

Here's a picture using a piece of wood to space the side.

The Cage is a Bolt in 6 point Bonds Cage. Looks pretty sturdy.

I guess I should really have a weld in cage but I did want to be able to turn this car back into a street machine.

Its actually easier putting in the cage for the second time. Actually, this time, I'm rather pleased with the installation. Everything went in quite easily and in the right place.

By the way,  that Turbo Manifold that you see is from Blueridge Motorsports.

Thanks Brandon!

18 May 2012

Had a scare today. Was clarifying some rules on the car when Nathan raised that he couldn't see my entry payment. Did some investigting with the bank and found out that I had entered an incorrect BSB number. Darn!

My mind went through all the issues that could arise - will the other bank/recipient return my money etc etc..
But then, called the bank and they told me the funds were returned. Phew.

So folks, be very very careful when doing  Electronic funds transfers.

Fortunately, Nathan was very understanding and accepted the late payment.

on another note, look what came last night!!!

Now its really time to start work on the engine.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Remember that horrid engine bay, well, I've cleaned it up abit and ready for painting tonight.
i'll be using can aerosols, so, wish me luck.

and here's to a modified front to accept a customed radiator...The problem with running a large turbo is the clearence. For an engine making this much power, the half sized radiator just couldn't cope.

Will keep you updated on the radiator.

Finally, my messy work space...where I spend about an hour a day, at night, abt 10pm, after putting the kids to sleep.

MFactory

Gearing/Transmissions are a very much overlooked aspect of a modifier. You could get away with it on a street car, but its absolutely crucial on a circuit car.

A good LSD, close ratios and final drive helps keep the car in the power band and on the boil where you want it.

MFactory has been providing quality transmission products to the market for several years now and is now a leading manufacturer of race transmissions components especially for the Honda. I'm honoured to have had the support of Mfactory these past few years.

Setting up the MFactory Metal LSD.

Enthusiasts do not sometimes realise how sophisticated the Mfactory LSD is. While it caters to the lay user, for the more advance user, they can appreciate the adjustability of the MFactory LSD.

From Pre-load, using springs as above, to adjusting between 2 different types of LSD actions, in this case between a 1.0 and 1.5 way.

Our setup will have the LSD set to a 1 way, which is suitable to FWDs.

Fully re-buildable as well.

Finally, Thanks to MFactory for the following parts.

1) An MFactory Metal 1.0/1.5 way LSD
2) MFactory Close Ratio Straight Cut gears
3) High Load High Speed Transmission Bearings
4) Carbon lined synchro, sleeve and hub set

Cleaning up

Started work on the engine bay. Looking at the mess it is, I can't not bother even though time is a concern.

Let's see what I can do about this, this week.

Off comes the dirty grubby tow hooks.

These will eventually make way for these beauties, Splitter brackets - courtesy of JDM Yard.
